The 5 Step Morning Grace Routine! My Secret To Stay Energized Throughout the Day!
Let’s face it…we all want more energy and I think we’re all craving more simplicity in our lives. Phrases like “tech detox” and “unplug and unwind” are becoming more and more appealing to us. It’s another reason why I adore my early morning routine which is technology and distraction free. All I need is my workout gear, a pen and my journal.
A good early morning routine will jumpstart your day by allowing you to connect with your deepest priorities and get focused on your goals for the day. Beginning your day in a peaceful state and empowering yourself with personal development time and productivity will supercharge your day and improve your activity flow. You’ll be amazed how accomplished you’ll feel to have so much done while everyone else is still sleeping!!
By working one on one with my clients, I’ve discovered they appreciate routines that are simple and effective and easy to stick to, so I decided to define the morning routine I recommend in a way that’s easy to remember…here it is (drum roll please….) The Morning G.R.A.C.E Method! Beautiful, Simple and Powerful. It will energize you, fuel your confidence and grow your personal and professional success!
Here’s how it works:
I recommend waking up 1 hour earlier than you are right now so you can complete the whole routine. I’m a big fan of 5AM however if that is a “deal breaker” for you, 6 or 7am is fine, as long as you have approximately 1 hour you can dedicate in the morning.
GRATITUDE -5 minutes. Begin your morning with gratitude. Dedicate a journal you can write in each morning for this routine, keep it in the same spot where you will go each morning to write. Write down 3 things you are grateful for. (It could be the awesome conversation you had with your best friend yesterday that was so amusing you had tears running down your cheeks from laugher, it could be the beautiful sound of peace and quiet you are enjoying during this beautiful morning, it could be anything you can think of that makes you feel happy and thankful.) This is an important exercise because over time it will actually retrain your brain to begin noticing more positive things in your life and to focus on what you HAVE rather than what you don’t have.
REAL TIME GOALS– 5 minutes. Next, in your journal write down your Top 3 Priorities/Projects for today. You may also want to write down the names of any people you should be reaching out to today to help you complete your projects or to delegate to. Writing down your top 3 Goals for the day greatly increases your chances of actually completing them. It refocuses our thoughts and at the end of the day we can check off whether we accomplished the tasks or not, so it also gives us a sense of accomplishment.
AFFIRMATIONS-5 minutes. During this time say (preferably out loud) your affirmations. We all have nasty thoughts that cripple our results so it’s important to take this time to weed out those thoughts out and plant some flowers instead! These are positive, empowering statements that will focus on your overall personal vision and remind yourself how incredibly amazing and powerful you are. I recommend creating a vision statement and financial affirmations as well. This not only prime your mind for a fantastic day but also influence your subconscious mind over time and improve your confidence and energy.
CREATIVE LIVING-20 minutes. During this time spend 20 minutes on an activity that will get your creative juices flowing such as writing, journaling, playing a musical instrument, drawing or meditation. (I use this time for guitar practice.) Not only will you become much more skilled in the activity you choose by practicing daily, but also this could be the very activity that will act as a portal bringing you into deeper, more beautiful parts of yourself that you didn’t even know existed.
EXERCISE- 25 minutes. Spend 5 minutes on stretching (warm up, cool down) and 20 minutes of cardiovascular activity (brisk walk/run out side or on treadmill, exercise video, dancing) anything that gets your heart pumping faster and makes you sweat! The benefits of daily exercise are absolutely incredible. Not only will it ward of diseases and make you look better, but it will make you FEEL better! The positive effects that regular exercise has on your mind is astounding. It releases chemicals in your brain such as dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine that improve your mood, your focus and your confidence. Research shows it improves your memory, increases your energy and reduces your anxiety.
You’ll have the greatest success with this early morning routine if you set yourself up with accountability. This will increase your focus on these new behaviors so you can stick with them! As a GIFT to you, I have created a Morning G.R.A.C.E. Accountability Log that will help you to keep track of your progress and jumpstart your success!!
