The days run into each other, responsibilities and chores are piled high and the idea of “me time” is laughable. We’re ragged and running on empty. We’re living life on auto-pilot and not sure how to make the switch. Fortunately, there are ways to breakthrough the madness and design a life you love. 5AM Wakeup has been my moonbeam, my morning magic, my saving grace. It’s transformed my life by solving these five problems for me and it can do the same for you.
PROBLEM #1: “I DON’T HAVE ENOUGH TIME.”
5AM wakeup will GIVE you undistracted, peaceful, top quality TIME back in your day. Seriously. This time of day is unmatched. Your self control is higher during the first few hours of the day and diminishes as the day goes on. It is quiet and peaceful, no one is texting you, calling you or making demands from you at 5AM. This is peak productive time you can invest in your future success.
Before I began my 5AM wakeup routine, I was not making myself a priority in any way shape or fashion. I was running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off trying to please everyone else including, my manager, co-workers, family and friends. It was exhausting and I was DONE. Done like dinner my friends.
Then one evening I was surfing YouTube and stumbled across a Robin Sharma video about the 5AM Club and all the benefits it offered including personal peace and productivity. Boom! I was immediately sold. I told my husband that evening I was setting the alarm for 5AM the next morning, and sure enough I rose the next day at 5AM. For the first time in a long time I was making ‘me time’ a priority.
PROBLEM #2: “I CAN NEVER STICK TO NEW HABITS.”
I struggled with creating daily exercise as a habit for two years before I stumbled upon the 5AM wakeup concept in 2013. It changed everything. First of all, by conquering the 5AM wakeup habit (which you can absolutely do if you set yourself up for success), you strengthen your mindset and begin creating a pattern of “can do” thinking and behaviors. By sticking to one new habit you strengthen your ability to stick with other new habits. Second of all, by being awake this early with undistracted time and more willpower you can create an additional habit such as daily exercise at the same time as the 5AM habit! What an accomplishment! It feels amazing to begin your day with two automatic primal wins!!!
PROBLEM #3: “I FEEL STRESSED.”
Lack of direction and focus often creates stress because we sense that we are wasting time and we do not feel accomplished. 5AM wakeup allows the space to focus on your deepest priorities and goals while the rest of the world sleeps. Even 15 minutes of gratitude, affirmations and goal planning in the morning is pivotal for how the rest of your day will unfold.
PROBLEM #4: “I DON’T HAVE ENOUGH ENERGY.”
Ok I know some of you are thinking “Are you crazy? I won’t possibly have more energy by waking up at 5AM!” I assure you, IF you respect a new bedtime routine and begin waking up at 5AM…your energy will INCREASE. Particularly if you are beginning a new empowering morning routine at the same time that includes gratitude, affirmations, goal setting and exercise. You will be amazed at how much more energy you will have, your happiness will soar and your productivity will absolutely skyrocket!
PROBLEM #5: “I FEEL ANXIOUS.”
5AM wakeup along with 20 minutes of daily exercise will reduce your anxiety and increase your confidence. Research has shown that regular exercise reduces anxiety and depression by releasing feel-good brain chemicals (such as serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine), and increasing body temperature which can have calming effects. Regular exercise also has psychological and emotional benefits by boosting your self worth, giving you new focus and taking your mind off your worries. Prior to 5AM wake up and daily exercise I used to suffer from anxiety, I would constantly worry about what everyone else thought and remained stuck in my old patterns for fear of “rocking the boat.” My life transformed after I began the 5AM life. I became healthier, happier, more confident and much more productive. It was an incredible gift I gave to myself and I wish the same happiness and success for you.
